Fatuma Mohamed Achani

Fatuma Mohamed Achani is a Kenyan lawyer and politician serving as the Governor of Kwale County since 2022. Before becoming governor, she served as Deputy Governor for ten years under Salim Mvurya. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and previously worked with FIDA-Kenya and other governance organizations. Her election made history as she became both the first woman to govern Kwale County and Kenya's first female Muslim governor. Her administration has focused on improving healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and economic empowerment while promoting inclusive development across the county.
