About Jonathan Bii
Jonathan Bii Chelilim, widely known by his nickname Koti Moja, is the current Governor of Uasin Gishu County in Kenya, elected during the 2022 general elections on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. His political journey began in 2007 when he contested against William Ruto for the Eldoret North parliamentary seat under KANU, though he did not succeed. He later vied for the Soy constituency seat in 2017 against Caleb Kositany but narrowly lost. In 2018, he shifted from KANU to Jubilee Party before eventually aligning with UDA, which propelled him to victory in 2022. As governor, Bii has emphasized improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and connectivity within Uasin Gishu, aiming to transform the county into a hub of opportunity and growth. He is recognized for his resilience in politics, having persevered through multiple electoral defeats before clinching the governorship, and he continues to be a notable figure in Kenya’s political landscape.
