About Ochilo George Mbogo Ayacko
Ochilo George Mbogo Ayacko is a Kenyan lawyer, academic, and politician currently serving as the Governor of Migori County since August 2022 under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Born on September 10, 1968, in Olare Village, Migori County, he has built a distinguished career in public service. Ayacko studied law at the University of Nairobi, later earning advanced degrees including a PhD in Leadership and Change Management from USIU-Africa. His political journey began in 1997 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Rongo Constituency, a position he held for a decade. He went on to serve as Minister of Energy, where he spearheaded rural electrification, and later as Minister of Gender, Sports, Culture, and Social Services, establishing key commissions on gender, disability, and youth. Beyond politics, he was CEO of the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board and chaired the African Commission on Nuclear Energy, positioning Kenya in nuclear energy policy. In 2018, he became Senator for Migori County before winning the governorship in 2022. His career reflects a blend of legal expertise, governance, and commitment to development, particularly in energy, gender empowerment, and county leadership.
